A slurry pump is necessary auxiliary equipment in concentrators, mainly used for slurry transport. Slurry pumps are generally used for pressure feeding. Improper use of the slurry pump may affect the normal operation of the slurry pump and affect its production capacity.

1. Slurry pump bearing lubrication is divided into thin oil lubrication and grease lubrication. If this oil is used for lubrication and cooling, the oil is also cooled by the built-in surface cooler. The material of the cooler is a pure copper tube, and the cooling medium is circulating water. When the surface of the tube wall of the cooler is scaled, the heat transfer will be poor and the cooling effect will be poor.

Solution

Check bearing cooling water pressure and flow regularly. The general slurry pump cooling water pressure is 0.05-0.2MPa, cooling water flow is 1-3m/h. Replace coolers with scale in time. Start the cooling water before the pump starts to adjust the pressure to the specified value. Check the bearing temperature rise regularly (35%), and the maximum temperature shall not be greater than 75%.

2. In the process of using slurry pump packing wear leads to seal failure, and slurry leakage along the shaft seal, resulting in bearing damage.

Solution

The leakage of shaft seal water should be detected regularly during routine maintenance. When the leakage increases, the bolts of the packing gland should be adjusted. Timely replacement of packing and failure of the O-ring seal to prevent leakage slurry along the shaft from the water tray seal into the bracket oil pool. Replace or re-weld cooler joints.

3. Lubrication has an important effect on fatigue life, friction, wear, temperature rise, and vibration of rolling bearings. Friction and wear can be reduced by lubricating the various parts of the bearing. When the lubricating oil is not clean, the oil is too much or too little, and the oil is aging and metamorphic, it will lead to the bearing heating degree of operation being larger than the original, and too much oil is easy to leak.

Solution

The oil quantity should be adjusted in strict accordance with the pump instruction, and the oil level in the bracket should be checked regularly. The correct oil level should not exceed ±2mm near the oil level line. In case of oil seal failure or oil leakage, the oil should be replaced in time.
