The Effect Of Hydrocyclone Operating Parameters On Separation Efficiency

Date: 2024-12-27     From: Longding     Author: admin

The operating parameters that affect the separation particle size of the hydrocyclone mainly include the inlet pressure, flow rate and the installation angle of the hydrocyclone itself. Among them, when other conditions of the hydrocyclone separation system are the same, the inlet pressure and flow rate are coupled with each other, and the flow rate will increase with the increase of the inlet pressure.

Generally, the increase of the inlet pressure of the hydrocyclone will reduce its separation particle size, improve the classification efficiency and production capacity. In addition, relevant studies have shown that the processing capacity of the hydrocyclone is roughly proportional to the square root of the inlet pressure, while the separation particle size is inversely proportional to its fourth root. The installation inclination of the hydrocyclone is one of the important factors affecting its separation index. With the increase of the inclination, the production capacity of the hydrocyclone increases, the recovery rate of the fine particle size in the slurry increases, the separation particle size increases, and the separation efficiency remains basically unchanged. However, for small and medium-sized hydrocyclones, the installation inclination generally has little effect on the separation particle size.

The solid phase concentration, solid particle size, solid-liquid two-phase density, density difference and liquid phase viscosity in the separation medium will affect the separation particle size of the hydrocyclone. The separation accuracy decreases with the increase of medium concentration, and the effective pressure drop decreases due to the increase of cyclone motion resistance, thereby increasing the separation particle size. Studies have found that when the processed material contains a large number of particles close to the required separation particle size, the classification effect of the hydrocyclone will deteriorate. The processing capacity of the hydrocyclone increases with the increase of medium viscosity. Therefore, the separation of fine particles can only be achieved under the conditions of low feed concentration and high pressure drop.
